What can I do to keep my computer from freezing up?

I have a HP desktop and it is running windows xp. It freezing up on a constant basis. This prevents me from doing anything on the computer. I can surf the web for a short period of time. There is a hp laser printer connected to the computer but the moment I try to print a page, it freezes. I have Verizon security suite and have ran several times but nothing negative appears. I have also used the operating system scan and it also comes up negative. Does anyone have a recommendation on how to get the system working again with the printer?cw

How can I get copies of my book?

I wrote a book in 2006. The contract I signed said that the print-on-demand publisher owned the rights to the book for seven years. However, now the book is not available through the publisher; they may have sold the title to another company because the book wasn’t making much money. They haven’t responded to my inquiries. I need about 10 copies of this book, so how do I get them? There is one copy on Alibris. If the publisher sold the title, then they no longer have the rights and our contract is void, right? Can I have it published again somewhere else?
Slobberknocker_USA misunderstood the question.

what's the best self publishing route?

Our terminally ill 12 year old daughter wants to publish a book. We think she’ll want a few dozen copies (family / friends). Some of our neighbors, people at our church and her schoolmates have said they would buy it, too. So we want to have the book available thru a print on demand service for sales…

Last year she was interviewed on local TV and she mentioned that she wants to write a book before she dies. Today was her first back at school (none of us thought she’d survive the summer), and she was asked about her book, by a few kids and her teacher from last year.

So which service is easy to use and inexpensive…

What exactly is e-publishing?

Engineer turned publisher Leonard Fernandes of Goa runs the Dogears.etc (a site for second-hand book sales) and also his print-on-demand services and supplies initiative called Cinnamon Teal. Here, he gives an introduction to the potential of e-publishing, specially to those in alternative publishing.

What is the best way to self publish a book?

I’ve been researching on what I needed to do to get a book out from those POD (print on demand) publishers like Lulu and Createspace, and I’m having trouble on copyrights and isbn numbers. Mostly the technical stuff that I really don’t want to mess with until I get an understanding of them.

Should I even bother to get a copyright registered? They cost around 35 bucks online.

Also, should I get my own ISBN number or does it even matter that I get an ISBN number created by Lulu or Createspace?

My goals aren’t too great in the financial department. I know that I’m not going to make a living out of my book, but it would be nice to get at least some money out of it. (get at least a hundred sold, more would definitely be great) I still want it to have potential to be popular or be made into a movie script or something. So that leads to my other question. Should I just send a manuscript to an authentic publisher instead? The problem I have with that also is that that would take a long time for it to be published and I would like it to be published fast enough when I’m done with the story.

If I self publish, will the authentic publishers not even consider my work if I don’t take it off the market (or have an ISBN from lulu or createspace)?

letterpress print reject?

Letterpress have high rejects during short runs. (color problem, bad register etc) Does anyone have any "standard guideline" for % reject. Eg for 10 metre run, what kind of % reject can we expect? for 100 metre, % reject etc.

Thank you.

Should I find an agent?

I have a completed Fiction manuscript, and I’ve been scanning the internet for the right agent, or the right publishing house. My fiance and I have discussed how best to distribute the new novel, but now I’ve run into a sort of roadblock. I have sent out my query letter to three agents, and two of them turned the idea down, because they believe it to be too far into the vein of Science Fiction. The other agent has given it a chance, and is reviewing the manuscript now. Yet, I’m now questioning my actions, because there are smaller publishing houses (not Self-Publishing or Print-On-Demand) that don’t need agent-issued proposals or manuscripts.

My question is, should I try to find the right agent for this endeavor, or should I just get the book out and hope that stardom comes without the agent’s help?

Is it easier to make an Audio Book?

I’ve been working on a very detailed book that requires some extensive formatting for a print-on-demand publisher, and is taking way longer than I would like. Would it be easier to just do an audio book instead? What are the requirements for that? Will I still need to obtain an ISBN number? Will I be able to leave out certain things like the index and end notes? I’ll have to do a little more research on it, but any advice or help will be appreciated. I forgot my password on the writer’s forum I use so I’ll have to get that worked out too. Anyway, thanks.
