Printing issue in Windows ME…?

Hey Y!A,

I’m having an issue with printing on a computer running Windows ME. I know, I know, it’s the Microsoft’s Error version, but it’s what I got…
Anyway, I have an HP Photosmart 2610 that i’m attempting to install over a network. The driver installer detects the printer just fine and tells me that it installs successfully, but it doesn’t show up in the printer folder. additionally, when I try to print, I get the ‘enlightening’ error message of:

"the spoolss.dll is linked to missing export NTDLL.dll:NtSetInformationThread"

I then proceeded to replace the spool32.dll, spoolss.dll, and ntdll.dll files from the windowsME disk. I then proceeded to do do a regsvr32 on each of them, but I stil have this problem.

short of a reformat or upgrade, does anyone have an idea as to how to get this working again?

What are your recommendations for a free print on demand service?

I’m looking to start my own small publishing company eventually, but for right now, I’m working on getting a family cookbook into print. I’ll probably be printing between 50 and 100 copies (I have a lot of extended family), but I don’t want to put a lot of money down and get burned if some family members decide they don’t want the book. I’ve looked at lulu.com, and they don’t quite offer what I want (mostly I want to be able to have either three-ring or Wire-O binding, and lulu only offers perfect binding), but something along those lines would be ideal. I’m sort of looking at CreateSpace or Blurb, but I’m wondering what other options are out there. Ideally the service would offer the following:

1. Only print a copy of the book when it is sold, so I don’t have to put down a lot of money ahead of time.
2. Allow me to keep all legal rights to the book.
3. Have a relatively low base cost per item.
4. Offer a free ISBN service (not necessary, but it would be nice in case I end up selling more of these outside of the family).

I don’t need a big expensive design package; I can take care of that on my own. And I’m not looking for help with editing or marketing or anything. Just simple, legitimate POD printing (and preferably not lulu, even though that seems to be everyone’s favorite).

How to stop lines in block colours when doing A3 size large format digital printing?

I have had some graphic designs of mine printed and because I only want a very short run printed I am using a commercial digital printer.
I have found that the background of my design is coming out with bands of even colour. How can I fix this? Can I do something to my design to stop this?

Thanks for your answers

Is it possible to sue print media for defamation?

Like, for example,if there’s a group of people–they’ve been called/labelled something unpleasant (according to this group of people) by the print media (a newspaper), can the newspaper be sued and/or demanded a public apology towards that group of people?
Yes,yes, yes, The Daily Mail IS printing false info about a rock band which is TOTALLY not true, and there are MANY people, almost EVERYBODY who thinks the opposite of what The Daily Mail has written!(yes,Frenchie,I’m talking about MCR !)
