I wrote a book in 2006. The contract I signed said that the print-on-demand publisher owned the rights to the book for seven years. However, now the book is not available through the publisher; they may have sold the title to another company because the book wasn’t making much money. They haven’t responded to my inquiries. I need about 10 copies of this book, so how do I get them? There is one copy on Alibris. If the publisher sold the title, then they no longer have the rights and our contract is void, right? Can I have it published again somewhere else?
Slobberknocker_USA misunderstood the question.
They probably discontinued your title. Reread your contract to see what it says about discontinued and out of print. If the book is out of print or the publisher is out of business (very possible), you probably have an out.
Order two copies from Alibris and see what happens. If they can get a second copy, order the rest. It may be they only have one in stock.
I really can’t answer this question. However go to the link bellow, those people know the ‘whats what’ in the writing world. Many of them have ‘been there and done that’ they would be very happy to help you in anyway you can.

You mean to tell me, you didn’t keep the original? I’d keep the original and the publishers get copies. It’s only common sense. No offense.
I think you need to contact a lawyer.
