recently got some cards printed at a professional print place and the backs are horribly off center, is this normal and there’s nothing they can do about it, or should I consider this sloppy work and demand they do it properly?
basically, would it be presumptuous of me to ask them to re-do the job?

I’d take the cards back to them and show them the problem. I’d then ask them if it would be possible if they could redo them because they look a little sloppy. Most places will because a happy customer is a returning customer. If they won’t do it or offer you some sort of restitution for their sloppy work, I’d go somewhere else next time.
No its not a bad idea to take the cards back and make them do it right. You paid for the work and you paid for professionalism. If you wanted the job done improperly then you wouldn’t have paid $50…more than likely you would have gone to walmart and bought the cheap cardstock and printed off your home ink jet. So take the cards back, show them the problem and ask them to redo the order. If they are any kind of legitimate franchise, they will have an image to uphold and will gladly redo the order. If not, then I would ask for my money back, take my flash drive and go someplace else that honors their word, stands by their products and takes pride in their work. Its just good business practice.
Yes. Just get what you paid for. If you paid and it’s a bad job then you’ve paid for rip off. It’s not presumptuous to demand they produce what they agreed to when they took your order.
If the image is off your flash drive. It might not have been possible to get it centred due to the program u had it saved on.
But there is NO harm in asking.
Understand that anger will not get this issue solved. Diplomacy is the best approach. Simply because YOU know that if they dont give u what u paid for u can take business elsewhere. use diplomacy though. It will help u in solving the issue without problems.
If u use anger. The person behind the counter will NOT be so willing and make the extra effort to help you. They will make the problem drag out as long as possible. At the end of the day u suffer in that scenario.
Its all about people skills
You paid to have them print them, you should get the best quality printing done - you paid for the service and they didn’t do it right.
Of course it is totally fine to ask them to re do it.
I have to order business cards all the time at my office and when the printer screws it up, of course we demand that they re do them.
