How to stop lines in block colours when doing A3 size large format digital printing?

Short Run Printing

I have had some graphic designs of mine printed and because I only want a very short run printed I am using a commercial digital printer.
I have found that the background of my design is coming out with bands of even colour. How can I fix this? Can I do something to my design to stop this?

Thanks for your answers
